A warning against typhoon Neoguri was issued on Thursday, forecasting it was likely to land along the southeastern coast of Hainan Province or skim over the offshore areas between Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
Typhoon Neoguri would affect southern Hainan and Guangdong provinces, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and southeastern Fujian Province.
台风预警信号于17日发出，预计台风“浣熊”很可能在18日下午和19日上午于海南东南海岸登陆，或从沿海近海擦过。

Programmer hides proposal in video game

Hiding a ring in a bouquet just wasn't enough when a computer programmer decided to pop the question. Bernie Peng spent a month reprogramming a video game to propose to his girlfriend.
Peng reprogrammed Tammy Li's favorite video game, "Bejeweled," so a ring and a marriage proposal would show up on the screen when she reached a certain score. Li reached the needed score -- and said yes.
PopCap, the Seattle company that makes "Bejeweled," will fly the couple to Seattle as part of their honeymoon. The company is also supplying copies of "Bejeweled" to hand out as favors to the wedding guests.

Competition between two sports goods giants, Nike and Adidas, has moved to a different arena - a Shanghai court. Nike is suing its German competitor, and Chinese soccer star Zheng Zhi.
Nike Sports (China) Co Ltd told the court that Adidas and Zheng Zhi had harmed its interests.
Nike said that Zheng, while working as a brand ambassador for the company, was persuaded by Adidas to wear their products and attended its publicity events in exchange for a considerable amount of money. Nike is seeking 8 million yuan in compensation from the two.

Barbra Streisand has donated $5 million to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for a women's heart education and research program.
The gift will create permanent funding and help expand research efforts.
Streisand, who has won multiple Grammy Awards, said in a written statement that "Women need to be educated about female cardiovascular disease and the medical community must be propelled toward change."
